Bike MS: Tour to Tanglewood Details
The Bike MS:Tour to Tanglewood is a 2-day cycling event that raises funds to support people living with multiple sclerosis in Central North Carolina and throughout the United States. Money raised through this event funds MS research, programs, services, and advocacy. This year, over 2000 cyclists and volunteers will participate in the event raising over $1 million to create a world free of MS.
Starting and finishing at Tanglewood Park both days, Bike MS cyclists enjoy two full days of riding through the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. At the conclusion of each day's ride, cyclists are greeted by cheerful volunteers, a delicious hot meal, ice cold beverages, and live entertainment.
Your participation will aid in assisting support programs, services, and research that makes a huge difference to the people who must fight MS every day of their lives.

Tour to Tanglewood Route
On Saturday and Sunday, the route starts and finishes at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC. Route options are designed to fit all types of cyclists. From beginners to experts, Bike MS is for everyone. To truly enjoy the ride, get ready for a few hills.
The route will be clearly marked with directional signs and arrows. There are also volunteers on the route to help you along the way. You’ll receive a cue sheet in your Rider Packet and you can download route to your GPS this Summer.

Sunday Routes - 15, 25, 40, 50, 65 Miles
Mountain Bike Trail Routes
For the first time ever, the Bike MS: Tour to Tanglewood will have Mountain Bike Trail options. Pick your distance on the newly updated mountain bike trails at Tanglewood Park. The trails will be fully supported including a rest stop throughout the day!

Saturday - 10, 25, 50 Miles
Sunday - 10, 25 Miles
(Routes may change due to road closures, construction, etc. Please use the cue sheet provided during the weekend of the event and follow the route markings to ensure that you stay on the Bike MS TTT route.)
First Time Riders
Many Tour to Tanglewood rookies are avid cyclists and/or experienced fundraisers, but some are are brand new this kind of event. No matter what your skill level, or fundraising experience, we have the extra support you need to reach your goals. Rookies are very important to us. Around 35% of Bike MS cyclists are rookies every year and we expect over 600 rookies to join us this year. You are not alone.

Rules and Regulations
- Rider must be a first-time rider with the Bike MS: Tour to Tanglewood.
- Rider is still responsible for raising the $200 fundraising minimum by the day of the ride.
- Ticket may only be used for non-registered rider. Refunds or credits will not be given to first year riders who are already registered.
ROOKIE GAME & BONUS BUCKS
The Rookie Game will enhance your first experience as a cyclist in the Bike MS: Tour to Tanglewood. Aside from being a great way to meet other people involved in this fabulous event, it’s easy, fun and gives you the opportunity to win prizes!
Sign the Rookie Book at any of the pre-ride events. Rookies earn 25 Bonus Bucks for every event they attend. Rookies can earn bonus bucks for up to 10 events earning you $250 dollars that will be added to your fundraising total after you reach the $200 fundraising minimum.
Pre-Ride Events Include Beginner Rides, Bike Shop hosted Training Rides, and the VIBE Party (VIBEs Only).
The Rookie that checks in at the most pre-ride events will win a GRAND PRIZE (2012 Tour to Tanglewood Jersey, Cycling Shorts & Bike MS Waterbottle).
Tent Camping at Finish Line
Camping at Tanglewood is a special part of the Bike MS: Tour to Tanglewood. We encourage you to join in the fun and camaraderie by camping. There is no fee for tent camping at the Bike MS finish line, and you’ll be able to enjoy a hot shower in the deluxe shower truck we rent for the weekend. See below for other RV options. Too tired to put up your tent? Boy Scouts volunteer to set up and break down tents for a donation to the MS Society.
Tanglewood has renovated its campground for RV's only. These campsites are equipped with water and electricity hook ups. The fee for an RV spot is $29 per night, and you are responsible for paying this. To reserve your spot at the RV campground, please contact Tanglewood Park at 336-778-6370 and let them know you are riding in the Tour.
If you prefer not to sleep under the stars, there are several hotel options. You are responsible for the cost of the hotel. Be sure to tell the hotel that you are a participant in the Bike MS: Tour to Tanglewood to get the special rates. These rates are good until 30 days out from the event or until the blocks of rooms are filled.
Hotels with special rates will be announced this Spring.
A shuttle service runs continuously from Tanglewood Park to preferred hotels on Saturday from 6am-8pm and Sunday 6am-1pm.
Do your own thing
If you can’t bear to part with the comforts of home, you are free to go home at night. If you choose to drink alcohol at Tanglewood, please designate someone else to drive you home.

Friday Night Check-In
If you did not receive your packet in the mail, save some time at Tanglewood on Friday night. You can pick up your packet, set up your team tent, and meet up with team members. Many of the teams get together during this time to go through last minute plans for the weekend.
